Breakthrough-developed Morton Arboretum App Named Finalist in 2015 American Business Awards!
The Morton Arboretum’s versatile, free mobile app for connecting visitors and members with the rich offerings of this 1,700-acre living museum has been judged a finalist in the 2015 American Business Awards under the Integrated Mobile Experience category.
Developed by Breakthrough Technologies, the app features a GPS-coordinated map that pinpoints the Arboretum’s most popular sites of interest; instant reports on Arboretum events, exhibits, classes, and updates; self-guided tours offering different experiences; even a digital membership card for smartphones that replaces a printed pass.
Being selected an ABA Stevie Award finalist “is a significant achievement for which you are to be applauded,” according to the announcement. “This means that independent judges agreed that these nominations are worthy of national recognition, and that the nominations will be recognized as Gold, Silver, or Bronze Stevie Award winners.”
The final placements of Gold, Silver, and Bronze Stevie Awards will be announced at the 2015 awards banquets later this year.
Breakthrough’s innovative approach of using open-source Drupal as the content management system to drive a Drupal mobile app is a relatively new concept – one that gives the Arboretum enormous flexibility in the way that they evolve the app to meet and anticipate the needs of members and visitors.
