At Breakthrough Technologies, we are always looking for ways to make an impact, and some projects truly stand out for their life-changing significance. One such project was our collaboration with Organ Recovery Systems, a company dedicated to advancing organ transplantation technology.
Did you know that Breakthrough built the software that allowed the organ transplant device to be used by the public? The software we wrote ran on a PC in a transplant center, and pulled vital data from the perfusion device that transported the organ. Our software tracked data such as perfusion actions and temperature measurements, to ensure an organ remained viable for transplantation. Organs must be kept at precise temperatures and receive the correct amount of fluids to stay alive. Before transplantation, a doctor or clinician must carefully review and approve the data to confirm the organ is ready for its life-saving mission. Every time our software ran in the field, it meant an organ was one step closer to saving a life.
The thought of our technology actively contributing to the success of organ transplants was nothing short of inspiring. It was an honor and a privilege to work on a project with such a profound human impact. Organ Recovery Systems continues to make a difference today, serving 49 countries and supporting nearly 400 transplant programs worldwide.
